Graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media.

Provided me with a wealth of knowledge relating to visual effects and design. Learnt alongside other like minded individuals which was my favourite part of the course.

Touched on every aspect of the VFX pipeline including 3D modelling, animation, texturing, production skills and much more. Completed a number of engaging and interesting assessments focused on both film and games.

Took part in the 48 hour film festival which is a sleepless weekend where teams receive a genre, a character, a prop and a line of dialogue which has to appear in their film. I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of working with others towards a common goal.

The skills that I learnt throughout the two years of completing this advanced diploma have been very useful and has benefited me with my other work.

Interests

Here are some of my top interests!

  1. Personal Development
  2. Connection
  3. Automation
  4. Media and Technology
  5. Photography
  6. Science Fiction
  7. Camping
  8. Strategic Games

1. Personal Development

I display a commitment to personal development and exploring new ways to align my values, skills and interests. I have been exploring personality types and learning about my own strengths, areas to develop and how I can better utilise my skills professionally.

I have read a series of books that have prompted deeper thinking:

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear
  • How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie
  • Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown
  • A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

Amongst many others!

2. Connection

Connection is important to me because it helps me feel seen, heard, and understood. It provides a sense of belongingness, fosters personal growth, and brings joy to my life. Being connected to others is something that I cherish and will always prioritise. Whether it be taking the time to spend a few minutes talking to someone about their weekend or being up for a spontaneous adventure, I’m all for it.

Some focus points for me are active listening, sharing experiences, practising empathy, being present, engaging in activities, and expressing gratitude.

I want to take control and deepen my understanding of what connection truly means to me.

3. Automation

Automation is a revolutionary technology that can transform the way we work and live. By implementing smart solutions, we can reduce errors, save time and energy, and achieve more in less time.

For example, Microsoft Power Automate can…

  • Help save time, especially with repetitive and daily tasks.
  • Turn manual processes into logical workflows within our preferred applications and services.
  • Support growth by building intelligent solutions and scenarios to boost productivity and efficiency.

The possibilities are truly endless and so are the potential benefits!

If you’re looking to increase productivity, reduce costs, and achieve more in less time, automation is the way to go!

4. Media and Technology

I love reading about the new advancements in the world of media and technology and am intrigued by recent innovations. I follow a number of companies and channels that share, discuss and review existing and emerging technologies.

One example is LinusTechTips, a youtube channel that creates a wide range of videos ranging from tech reviews to showcases and entertaining videos about technology.

I’m open and willing to adapt as we will continue to see a real shift in how our world operates over the coming decade as new products and services are implemented into our everyday lives.

5. Photography

I've always had a strong interest in photography. In particular, I love experimenting with unique techniques such as astrophotography and long-exposure photography. Occasionally I will venture away from the city light pollution and endure the elements to have an adventure with friends. There is something really exciting about taking a photo over the course of 30 seconds and then waiting in anticipation for the end result that the camera produces.

6. Science Fiction

Science fiction is of great interest to me as it typically deals with imaginative and futuristic concepts such as advanced science and technology, time travel, parallel universes, fictional worlds, space exploration and extraterrestrial life.

In my opinion, this plays a very important role in the advancement of technology in our current times because it inspires new and existing inventors.

Sparking curiosity and passion through stories of wonder, fantasy and imagination. A large amount of technology we have today was predicted in science fiction creations decades prior to them becoming a reality.

7. Camping

One of my favourite pastimes is having a break from normal life, exploring national parks and taking in our beautiful country, Australia!

It can sometimes be difficult to appreciate the simple things in life so I believe it is important to know how to take a step back.

It is incredibly refreshing and a great opportunity to bond with others free of the usual distractions.

8. Strategic Games

From board games to video games, I have always enjoyed playing games that are challenging, analytical and strategic. Mystery and strategy are more satisfying endeavours than a common roll of the dice.

These include:

  • Codenames - a game of guessing which code names (words) in a set are related to a hint-word provided by another player.
  • The Davinci Code - a game of logic and guessing to determine which numbers your opponents have in front of them before they discover yours.
  • Settlers of Catan - a strategy game where players assume the roles of settlers, each attempting to build and develop holdings while trading and acquiring resources.

In the digital space, I occasionally find myself drawn to games that present challenges to overcome in order to proceed further into the game. A good example of this is Factorio, a game about building and creating automated factories to produce items of increasing complexity, within an infinite 2D world. Having to manually produce items until you unlock new technologies and design your factory to automate everything.

That's all for now 🙂 Thanks for reading!
